John’s notes; This famous ‘Queen’ power ballad started out as a request and like so many others ended up as a lesson. The first half needs subdued dynamics and careful attention to your timing. You are playing over an orchestral backing with very little in the way of percussion so listen carefully to the chord (rhythmic) changes. Beginners may find this a little challenging but well worth the effort to gain experience. The first chorus is fun to play and leads into a completely different tempo and style which builds up in intensity into a the 2nd chorus which is full on ‘power rock’ so if you have a distortion (gain) facility available on your amp use it for best effect.
