John’s notes;
I created this tune to demonstrate how to use the underlying chords progression to provide a meaningful melody. The
chord ‘shapes’ used are just the basic ‘A’, ‘D’ and ‘E’ shapes from the key of the tune and a few of their associated
scale notes.
While developing a tune using this method it seems like the notes in the chords actually ‘suggest’ a melody!
Analysing music from all genres from rock to classical proves this is more than often the ‘go to’ method for writers.
If you want to create your own music learn how this tunes melody is derived from the underlying chord tone
inversions, then writing music will no longer be a mystery!
(How melodies are derived from the chord tones).
Learning and playing the melody (instrumental)
of tunes is essential for practicing your scales &
soloing techniques, in an enjoyable, practical way!
