John’s notes;I composed this tune to demonstrate how just a few common ‘TRIAD’ shapes is all that’s needed to create an interesting melody. This tune is a upbeat ‘jolly’ Blues with a typical ‘Rag Time/Shuffle rhythm. Blues tunes can be happy as well as sad !This arrangement prepares you for learning the ‘Blues’ style which is the origins of all western modern music, and still going strong today !This is a typical blues ‘stand alone’ guitar arrangement (no backing accompaniment). So I highly recommend using a metronome. The target tempo is 125 bpm but if you find this difficult learn each phrase at a tempo you can comfortably manage and work to build up the speed. Achieving accurate timing is essential.
