Welcome to the world of ‘Chord/Melody’,
an alternative to ‘fingerstyle’ playing.
Using the plectrum allows the chords to be more
prominent around the melody than fingerstyle
reducing the need for separate ‘base’ notes. Right hand
plectrum technique can be a challenge at
first because it needs to be accurate especially playing
partial chords.Chord/Melody is popular in all
genres including jazz, blue grass, and the blues to name a
few.
Start slow then aim to play this tune at medium tempo,
and slow down from phrase 14 for
best effect.
