Lesson Guide - Walking with the Blues

This one minute ‘jazzy/blues’ tune takes advantage of di-adds (2 note harmonies) and triads, as well as some ‘bluesy’
melodic licks in between. I’ve accompanied the tune with an upright bass sounding ‘walking bass’ rhythm part to add to
the ‘bluesy’ atmosphere. Although based on a standard 1 4 5 chord progression there are some chord choices typically
used in this genre. Think about the shuffle ‘groove’ when playing this tune.
I imagine a dimly lit, smokey jazz night club in the 1930-40’s. The band (guitar, bass, piano and maybe a soft drummer)
plugging away in the background while waitresses serve tables. Typical cocktail lounge bar music still popular today on
cruise ships and nightclubs.
