Johns Notes; There are thousands of ‘Amazing Grace’ arrangements. I have arranged this famous gospel tune as a short ‘stand alone’ chord melody guitar version. You can easily extend this tune by repeating it. I may add another verse later. Just pick up your guitar (electric or acoustic) and play at a tempo you choose. Slow or fast it is instantly recognisable and great fun to play. A student of mine played this in her church recently and it was very well received! It’s based on a simple 1-4-5 (A-D-E) chord progression with a few embellishments using ‘shell chords’ (partial chords) and triads. There’s also lots of of useful ‘techniques’ you can use in other tunes and arrangements. Regular students should have little problem playing this tune, and if you want a ‘one to one’ walk through with me just ask when you next attend your lesson.
